Ever ask God, “How can I share your love?”
I have been asking God to open my heart to his ways of sharing love. I know I have fallen short, not loving others the best way I can. Below are a few things I am working on in my life. In the midst of all the chaos and tension that we see going on in this world, having a heart of godly love and sharing it, is so important. God is so faithful to hear our prayer, he equips us and blesses as we walk with him learning to love like Jesus does. So here are a few things on my heart:
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18
Seek God first. Share what is in your heart with God. Start the day with prayer. God knows what is ahead of us. We may have some ideas about how the day will unfold, but God, our maker and Creator knows exactly what will happen next. Beginning the day with a humble heart and acknowledging God, is the key to living a life for him. A life of love. God is love, God loved us first and God is who teaches us how to love and equips us with love. It is so important to start with asking God for him to put love in our hearts. Really take time to pray over those prayer requests you have heard or have seen on Facebook. Share the gift of prayer and pray with someone who has a prayer request.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another- all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV
We have people who enter our thoughts during different times of the day. When those people come to mind share with them how much they mean to you. Pray for them, call them, send them a text, or go all out for some snail mail! We are also called to be connected to the body of Christ, attending worship gatherings. It is important to stay connected and be involved in a Bible believing church home. There is much blessing and encouragement when we are actively engaged in our church community.
3. Kind Gestures
Out of respect for Christ, be courteously reverent to one another. Ephesians 5:21 The Message
Our manners make a difference. Share a gentle response, please & thank yous, patience in a tough situation, joy in our hearts. There are people we come into contact with each day, they may be children, coworker, friend. Take notice of what makes them smile or helps them out. Make a favorite food for someone, or pick up their favorite morning coffee, we are the hands and feet of Christ. Share the hope and promise in Jesus all the places you go. Share smiles of joy!
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29 NIV
Use Social Media to encourage. Share Scripture or uplifting encouraging messages! Bless your social media friends!
5. Full Attention
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love the your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31 NIV
Be fully present when talking to someone. Set the electronic device down/turn it off. Giving our time to others brings great encouragement. When we intentionally engage in a conversation, we show the other person they are important to us. Having someone really listen brings feelings of love and makes the other person feel valued. Making someone a priority by stopping and looking them in the eye when they speak is so encouraging to them. Share in attentive conversation, take notice of how one on one encounters go!
Let’s all pray for God to help us in these areas, we all fall short, and have distractions and hard days. We have to daily seek God and ask him to help us love him with everything we are and love our neighbor. We are so easily sidetracked by the things in this world and our own schedules. We have to be intentionally seeking God to be enabled to keep perspective and share his love with others.
Comment on the ways you share love, or how these 5 ways encourage you 🙂
