Be Still

We are in a search for a house, and have been looking for several months. The When? Where? And How? have been perplexing.   The emotional up and downs have been trying during house shopping. I have been praying and asking God to show us what his plan is.  Some days I have kept my focus, other days I have folded to the circumstances.  God asks us to trust Him and seek Him when we are waiting in life.  There was a time that I had no surrender to God, and didn’t even know how to find his plan. I had a “do it myself” mentality.  I was looking to myself to make things happen and not trusting or believing God had a plan for me at all.

One fall I was invited to a Bible study where about 300+ women gathered.  The study opening was in the sanctuary with a large screen in the front with this verse: Be Still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. NIV  In that big group I felt totally singled out.  Like God was staring straight into my heart with those words. I knew change was necessary. The pace of life that I was living was detrimental to myself and my family. It was then God gently took my heart and began sweetly guiding me to see life His way.  I needed to stop and be still so I could hear God and hear his plan.

God loves us unconditionally and has plans and a hope and a future for us.  Jeremiah 29:11 says, ” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” NIV .This verse is so encouraging and brings thoughts of the good things the Lord has planned.  The next part of this passage commands an action on our part.  Jeremiah 29:12-13 goes on to say, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” The action we need to take is to pray and seek God in thankfulness in this day.  Not waiting to be thankful or trying to just do more on our own to make it happen.

Some days are easier to believe that good plan from God and be still than other days.  God answers some of my prayers quickly and in a way that I hoped. My trust level works well in this scenario.  Sometimes He answers in what seems a very very long time and not as I planned. These are the times where I trip myself up. Believing God has a plan for me, and that it is good, but then faltering and doubting because things aren’t happening on my time. Then trying to take over and make things happen in my own strength instead of waiting and continuing to look to God. We must let go of the false belief, “I have to do everything by myself”. God never changes, what he says he means; when I am believing him and when I am not. He knows what is best and what time is best to provide. Daily thanking and praising God strengthens us. Daily praise equips us to remember God’s faithfulness. Thankfulness helps keep our eyes on Him while we wait. We have to release our tight grip and let God work out the details in life.

Be still and know that I am God is so profound. Being still can seem exactly opposite of what we think we need to do.  Too much busyness to stop and really listen to what God wants you to do, creates anxiety and stress.  The words “know that I am God” hold great power and truth.  If we really believe and know God is God-Creator, Redeemer, Restorer, then we can stop, slow down and not try to be it all, do it all- “all by myself”.  The more we “know” God, learn who he is; the more we trust and our eyes are opened to His good ways. His timing is always perfect. We have to stop and -Be Still- to listen to God and pray.  It is so important to ask God what he has for us to do each day, not our will, but His.  You see, when we trust God, we can then let him work out our life details.  He sent Jesus, His son!  His ONLY son, to make sure we could have abundant life with Him.  His love for us is more beautiful than we can imagine. His plan for our life is more blessed and amazing than anything we can imagine! Take time to be still and seek God, opening your heart to His plan for you today.

Ask God: To help you seek his plan for your life and be still to hear him

Ask God: for a heart of worship & praise during the wait appreciating the gift of today

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6:33 NIV

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31 ESV

Just what I needed to read. Trusting God has a plan and appreciating the moment we are living is what it takes to live a happy life. We all want to have answers but sometimes we just need to be still and listen. Where we are is where we need to be and things will change exactly when it’s time. Look around and smell the roses. Thanks for sharing another inspirational blog. ❤️
