Does your prayer matter?

01/18/2021

We hear pray about it, pray for me, God hears prayer. Scripture says pray without ceasing. But isn’t it good enough for me to let my friend that prays a lot to do the praying, some ask? Others say, my pastor prays, I think he has a direct line. Others reason, God only hears the prayers that are done the right way with the right words, so I will leave it to those people with those right words. Statements are made like, I really know some people who are already praying, and I am sure they have it covered.

2020 and into this year has challenged all of us like never before and it seems the crazy just keeps coming. There are lots of messages, pray, pray for those who are sick, pray for leaders, pray for our country and world. Scipiture says. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 A question out there lingers: But does it really matter if I pray?

The truth is your prayer is extremely important. Here’s why, there is no one else on this planet that is you! Only you will pray the prayers you pray, the way you do, from your perspective. God made each one of us unique. We each have our unique influence. We each have our specific sphere of influence that no one else has. Your voice is important to God! Scripture reminds us: The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:8

Only you know your child or neighbor or spouse the way you do. Only you have had experiences and the specific perspective from those experiences. Your unique insight only comes from you. You will pray a different prayer over the same person than I will, because we each have a unique perspective.

Scripture tells us we are each a part of the body of Christ and we each have a different function. We can’t be what the other is, or replace someone else. The example: the ear can’t be the hand or the foot can’t be the eye. They were each made for their specific function. This is a truly wonderful thing, and what leads to, yes, YOUR PRAYER MATTERS!

Any number of people can be gathered together praying, and each one is going to have a different prayer perspective. As they pray so many different angles will be prayed because of each person’s unique life experience. I have prayed with many different people over the years and it happens every time, we can be praying for something, but what we pray is completely different angles. Often I step back and think, I would have never thought to pray that, and it has been said to me they didn’t think to pray what I did. This is because we are uniquely created and see things from a different angle. This is so amazing! I love that God made us like this! We each contribute so much to one another.

Today with so much struggle, strife and pain, pour out your heart and mind to the Lord. Pray every single thing that comes to mind, talk it all out with God. God is a God of detail, so nothing is too big or too small to pray. He hears every single prayer, every single time we pray. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

God faithfully answers prayers. Prayers have made the difference many times in Scripture. We have a direct line to God who has the power to help us in every situation. No matter how impossible something seems, it is not impossible with God. Ephesians 6:18 says, And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Pray with everything you’ve got! Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2 Pray your unique way. Don’t ever worry that you need to pray like someone else or that anyone else’s prayers are a fill in for yours. Their’s aren’t and never will be. Your words are also just right, even when you can’t form words the Holy Spirit understands the groans of our souls! In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26

Only you pray like you and God loves hearing your voice and your heart! So talk with God all day about everything, and pray for everyone around you! Pray everything on your heart! Your prayers are so important! Your prayers matter!

Love & Prayers,

Priscilla
