I was really excited to get to church the first Sunday of this #20sweet16 year! Start this week off with fellow disciples, who I feel so blessed to have met since we moved here. This sweet place also has donuts on Sunday mornings, my children absolutely love those donuts! The sweet deliciousness inspire them to get dressed and in the car. It is quite amazing how a sweet treat can bring so much happiness & get us out the door. I was really excited to get to church and hear the Word of God. As I know I am going to need him every step of this year. I really desire to live a sweeter life this year… and with that hope & desire, I have already experienced many challenges in the past few days, since my last post. The Scripture “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29-29 The words “learn from me” captivated my attention. It is a must to learn the ways of Jesus to be able to share true sweetness.
Pastor Mark’s sermon inspired my heart with amazing words about how precious our encounters with one another are. We are all sinners in need of Jesus. Jesus comes and befriends sinners, He is the Savior of our souls! We all desperately need the message of love that Jesus holds out. All of us carry wounds in our hearts from life. Nothing will heal those wounds, and make us stronger because of them except Jesus. So learning Jesus ways are absolutely important so love can be shared, Jesus’ way. His ways are perfect, he intimately knows each one of our hearts. He equips us for each moment we encounter, because He lives in us. It is more challenging to do things his way if we don’t know him or what his ways are. Learning from Jesus it what is needed. I am praying for Jesus to teach me about those who he has placed in my life. That I may have eyes to see them as he does, that he would put sweet encouraging words in my heart, and that I would recognize when I am not acting out of kindness and love and change my ways.
Sometimes we are so used to the people we are around we totally miss opportunities to share sweet words, gestures and deeds. I am praying that when I am going through my daily tasks that I don’t take these people for granted. I don’t want to miss the chance to bring joy and blessing to someone’s day. I find it especially hard dealing with daily situations with my children when I have repeatedly ask them to do a task, or when I am cleaning up after the same kind of mess everyday, or facing a situation I don’t know the answer to. These are moments I need to think on Jesus teachings: Forgive 70×7, or turn the other cheek, or the Scripture words “a gentle answer turns away wrath” from Proverbs 15:1a, or “seek me first”, and there are many others. If we know and spend time studying God’s Word it is there for us to use in our daily lives. When we don’t have Scripture in our hearts we respond in ways from the world. There is power in the name of Jesus and the word of God. Scripture tell us “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:11 NLT This verse is so powerful because the whole Bible is God’s love story to us. So this verse encourages knowing His Word, as it will lead us to Him-His whole & beautiful love and his ways for a life filled with love.
God desires for you to be connected to the body of believers. Pray and look for a church home if you don’t have one, look online for Bible study groups in your area, get connected for the journey! I encourage you to embrace the love story written to you from God in the Bible.
Let the sweetness pour in! Open your Bible, pray for guidance and dive in for the adventure of a life graced and abundantly filled with a love like no other! Be filled by Jesus and let His sweetness overflow to every life around!
Love and Hugs,
