When I Don’t Know Requires One Step at a Time

“I don’t know.”, that has been the answer for me the last few weeks. Places where emotions run high and decisions must be made can seem  impossibly complicated.  I have a deep desire to do things in a way Jesus would.  I have been seeking out Scripture, godly friends & pastors and praying for the Holy Spirit to counsel me in the ways of the Lord. This is where I turn because I know that God is good and He will guide me through every day’s challenges. I have experienced him answering my prayers and experienced His word to speak truth in my life. This hasn’t always been where I have turned.  In the past I would have turned to panic, depression, trying to fill with anything that I thought would help.  Constantly being shaken by every trouble that came having no peace and burdened by fear.  It is the knowledge of the Scriptures and God’s love that has equipped me to not be frozen in fear by the challenges. To turn to His ways first.  Truly there is nothing else on earth that can heal, redeem, restore and equip as the Word of God does; past, present or future.

In daily life it is important to continually read Scripture, studying the Word of God for wisdom.  We have to prioritize pouring the Word of God in our hearts daily. We have to keep seeking and being hearers of the Word. We are the only ones who can build our relationship with God, no one else can do it for us. The only unchanging truth is the Word of God.  God’s love for us is clearly displayed page after page.  Revelation of grace poured out is written for us!  We are so blessed to have access to the Holy Scriptures.  We have Bibles in arms reach, at our fingertips, online and in apps.  This is what must be sought first for handling the smallest details and finding hope in the overwhelming problems that come.

We are called to walk along the path God has for us one day at a time, praying for our daily bread, accepting the new mercies God gives us each morning, and trusting in the love of God.  We have to be seeking to build relationship with God daily.  God is always waiting to hear from you, waiting to pour out blessings.   We miss these blessings by doubting or distancing ourselves from God or listening to the messages of the world instead. We must remind ourselves that God is good all the time, He is our firm and solid foundation.  We must also remember that we as human beings are all sinners, all of us have fallen short.  God knows this!  He sent Jesus to redeem this problem!

It is perfectly safe to be real with God…..he already knows!!!  It is okay to not have all the answers. It is okay to tell God “I have absolutely no idea how you want me to handle this.”  God will provide the answer for each day and each situation. Jesus reminds us that each day has enough worries of its own and not to worry about tomorrow.  When getting through the day proves to be overwhelming take your worries to God in prayer.  It is also great to seek out a godly mentor or godly friend to talk things out and pray together.  God knows we need each other, as Scripture states “iron sharpens iron”.  That is why he tells us to stay connected to the body of Christ.  It is crucial be active in a church home that acknowledges God’s Word is the authority. God knows there will be days and situations that we will not know what to do next and he gives us his people to help us through, and to keep us accountable.

God wants us to have a relationship with Him, because he knows exactly what is coming next, and is always ready to speak to our hearts and guide us.  All we have to do is ask and expectantly watch and listen for God’s answer.  Faith is knowing and believing God will answer.  Watch with an expectant heart for God to guide you. He knows the situations that break your heart, He knows your uncertainties, He knows the burdens on your heart. Pray specifically, believing God can and will answer in detail!   God is Sovereign and loving in all situations, bringing us peace and joy.  God is totally in control, absolutely nothing worries him.  He has it! We have a hope, no matter the situation, because Jesus is victorious!

Dear God, We ask you to come cover us in the shadow of your wings and guide us each day, to keep us walking in your will.  Lord we confess we need you to forgive us for the places we are walking outside your will and restore us to walk in your ways.  Guide our hearts to expectantly watch for you in our daily lives.  May we bless you and share your love with each person you place around us each day.  Keep our eyes focused on you.  In Jesus Name Amen

Ask God:  For help with each concern you have.

Ask God:  Open my heart to seek your ways first

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:34

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
